SILVER CROSS SOHO NURSERY FURNITURE

If you’re tight on space but still need all the essentials in the nursery then the Silver Cross Soho Nursery set is fab, it features a wardrobe/dresser unit to maximise storage and has a nifty one touch changing station is cleverly hidden in the unit.If you're tight on space but still need all the essentials in the nursery then the Silver Cross Soho Nursery set is fab, it features a wardrobe/dresser unit to maximise storage and has a nifty one touch changing station is cleverly hidden in the unit.

CHICCO NEXT2ME

I wish we had of bought something like this, it would have made the night feeds so much easier. The Chicco Next2Me allows side-sleeping (parents to sleep with their child next to the bed, as opposed to in the bed) in compliance with expert safety advice. What I love about this crib is that you have the option to add the extra side on once baby is ready to move into their own room.

Plus is can be used downstairs instead of a Moses Basket and as it’s light weight and comes with a travel bag, it’s easy to take away with you if you go on holiday.

CHICCO URBAN TRAVEL SYSTEM

There are so many prams, pushchairs & travel systems out there, with a wide range of prices too. Some prams can be up to £1000 which would be waaay out of our budget. Then there’s the travel systems like the Chicco Urban which can be picked up for around £300 which includes the car seat too.

The part I love about the Urban is that you don’t have a separate carry cot & seat unit. the seat can easily be transformed into a carry cot meaning you don’t have to find somewhere to store any bulky extras!

BABY TOILETRIES

You don’t need to buy every product going, there’s so much to choose from. The main products we used was a gentle all in one baby wash like Johnsons Sensitive Touch, meaning you don’t have to fill your bathroom cabinet with lot’s of products, plus it’s formulated for newborn skin so you know it will be gentle. Then we also used a specific baby shampoo like Sebamed as it’s so gently on the skin & scalp.

Sudocreme is a godsend when it comes to nappy rash, it’s great for protecting and healing sore little bums. My little man had really sensitive skin so we also use Comfort Pure so keep his clothes lovely and soft.

BABY WIPES

You will use these for everything, and I mean everything! From wiping baby’s bum to cleaning up spills. We’ve been trying out WaterWipes for Archie and they are fab. WaterWipes
are 99.9% water & 0.1% fruit extract. They are fragrance fee and really moist making it so easy to clean baby’s bum.

You’re right I think we go overboard on making sure we are ready for our baby, especially the first & buy more than we need to. I love the chicco next 2 me bed, it’s a fab idea.

I’ve recently had my first baby (3 months ago) and bought a ridiculous amount of stuff that in reality we just aren’t going to use. Our best buy was a baby bean bag, he used to love sleeping on it during the day, money well spent. Jo x

This is such a great list. I would agree with all of these. I definitely bought less with Little Mister H then I did before Little Miss H was born. I would add that a good stretchy wrap is essential. Especially for your second baby. There is no way I could do dinner, bath and bed without being able to put Little Mister H in his wrap. And oh my, I wish I could buy that travel system. It is great that the seat is also a carry cot. That is just genius. Hugs Lucy xxxx

I love all of these baby essentials. It’s amazing how much you need for little ones isn’t it.

I think as long as a baby has clean clothes, food and nappies then they have all the essentials sorted. Mums however need lots of ‘essentials’ to make our lives easier and to ensure we can enjoy our time with our little bundles of joy.

I would have to say having a Boppy Nursing Pillow is a MUST with baby. This is another item that I made sure to also have at my house. They are so helpful when nursing and even just holding baby in a comfortable position. Then later they can be used as a support for baby during tummy time.
