My 5 tips on how to lose weight and save money, how you should be eating & shopping

Losing weight can be quite difficult sometimes, and it might need a lot of your energy and money as well. But some people managed to find some pretty great alternative ways how everyone can lose weight and even save money. Pair these with exercising and balanced diet and you will see amazing results a lot quicker!

You can save a pretty significant amount of money and also control your weight better if you switch your big old plates into new smaller ones. Unintentionally, When we see a big plate we tend to fill it, and we’re taught to eat everything on the plate as well. Instead take a smaller, simple plate, you will fill it pretty quickly, and you won’t need tons of food on that either. This tip works then you are eating at home and at public restaurants (especially when it is a buffet). So always choose a smaller plate and you will eat less, so spend less!

Alcohol doesn’t only cost a lot, but it is full of calories too. So another alternative weight losing tip that will also save you money is to banish booze out of your life for good. Since the main ingredient in all alcohol drinks is sugar that generally means a lot of calories too. Banish it for good and you will see good results both on your weight lost and money saving, or if you can’t give it up all together then think about alternative low calorie drinks instead of wine or beer.

My 5 tips on how to lose weight and save money, how you should be eating & shopping

Another great tip for everyone who is conscious about saving money & losing weight is to switch to shopping online. It will help you stay away from unplanned impulse shopping so should cost a lot less too!I always meal plan based on the food we already have, then just write a list of all the additional things we need. Only buying what we actually need saves so much money. You can also have a nosy at my weekly grocery haul which shows you the kinds of foods we buy.

When you are trying to lose weight, you need to have a strict plan and stick to it. And one of the first things you should write in your plan is always to eat breakfast! And the more – the better. This way you will avoid overeating during lunch or dinner because you will feel full after a big meal. So you will spend less while eating out or impulse buying snacks and so control your weight better too.

Finally, when it is possible, always walk or ride a bike to your destination. When you go to work or to spend some time with friends somewhere close, it’s much better choose this natural way to travel and ditch the car. Not only will you save on petrol & parking costs but you will be getting that extra exercise too.

What do you think about the tips on how to lose weight and save money? Will you be trying any of them out?

Great tips and I definitely agree with the cycling tip as we live in Holland so lots of people cycle and the Dutch don’t have an obesity problem. I would also add eat fresh foods. In Holland there are no ready meals or very very few people eat fresh. #brilliantblogposts

Good tips! I shop online so I don’t get ‘distracted’ in the shop and we have bought smaller plates for dinner so like you say, we don’t fill the big plates up. Small changes like these can make a big difference and don’t have to cost a fortune!! 🙂

I’ve heard that eating in smaller plates really helps! Have to remember to do that, though admittedly I’d struggle to banish the booze, not that I drink a lot. I do like a glass of wine every now and then 😉

These are some great tips, I will defiantly be trying out the smaller plate one as I tend to over fill. I’m not an alcohol drinker unless I’m out, never have any in the house so I’ll just cut down when I’m pout which will Help!

Great suggestions, these. Eating less and choosing healthier options would automatically lead to a reduction in spending, I should think.
