Remember last year when we were all loving the build up to the festive season and we had utterly fallen in love with cold nights, crisp winter air and dreaming of a white Christmas?
Well, I don’t know about you, but I’ve certainly had enough of all that! Spring is here which means we have so much to look forward to and enjoy! So it’s goodbye winter boots, farewell extreme winter weather and hello sunshine!
I love Spring, it’s just a wonderful season for so many reasons; good TV, celebrity events (click here for the Met Gala 2019 theme), baby animals, spring flowers, but I’ve found that Spring is good for the whole family, and here are 5 reasons why.
During the cold winter months, daylight is in short supply. It can be difficult to find the motivation to do anything or go anywhere, and while we might have enjoyed all those cosy nights in at the beginning of the Winter months, by now it can be downright depressing. A lack of daylight can really effect your mood, which is why I love Spring so much. Having those extra hours of sunlight really make a difference and everyone seems brighter and breezier!
It also makes the alarm sounding at 5.30am not as gut wrenching, simply because we’re not getting ready for the day in the dark!
GOODBYE FLU SEASON
This winter has been particularly bad for flu, sickness, coughs, ear infections and horrible colds. And that’s just in my house. Now that Spring is here, most of these bugs and germs have died off and everything seems so much fresher and healthier. There’s nothing better than throwing open the windows and letting all that fresh air inside!
YOU SAVE MONEY
With the weather starting to warm up a little, you might find that you don’t have the heating on full blast for such prolonged periods. So, you’re already saving money on your energy bills. The same goes for lighting, with those extra hours of daylight we don’t need to flick a switch until much later in the day. So it’s win, win!
MORE TIME OUTDOORS
Remember those cold, freezing days where you’d spend the day at home, only for the kids to start arguing and struggle to keep themselves entertained? Well, no more! Spring is here which means days out at local parks, trips to the beach and long walks with the whole family. It’s a lovely way to spend time together and not a screen in sight!
YOUR MENTAL HEALTH
Lack of daylight, illness, shorter days…they can all have a negative effect on your mental health after a while, which is why Spring is such a welcomed season in our house. With Spring arriving, you feel like you can accomplish so much more than you could a few months ago, and with the sense of new beginnings and fresh starts in the air, it almost feels like a clean slate for everybody.
I hope you enjoy the season as much as we do!
