As if dating didn’t already present plenty of challenges, like what to wear, where to go & how to keep the conversation flowing, lockdown threw the rule book away & changed the whole dating scene.
Social distancing has changed physical dating so much, we’ve gone from being able to meet new people face to face to talking online, via apps or video calls. Dating sites such as www.dateaberdeensingles.co.uk have been invaluable to people looking for love during lockdown, especially as you were no longer able to meet people in the usual way.
The lockdown has been relaxed but so many people still don’t feel comfortable sitting in a bar, especially if you are meeting someone new as you still need to social distance.
Not only is getting to know someone you’re attracted to still possible, but it can even be very romantic — and definitely safe, if you have a few social distancing date ideas for your next date night.
Virtual Dates To Try
For those that not quite ready to meet up in person, whether that’s because you’re shielding for yourself or a family member, or just because you don’t quite yet feel comfortable. We have some social distancing date ideas for you:
Online Coffee Date
Ok, not quite the same as meeting up in your local coffee shop but you can still enjoy a coffee date from your own sofa. There’s so many different apps for video calling; you can definitely find one that works for you. You can both enjoy a coffee & a chat, getting to know each other ready for that time when you do meet up in person.
Online Movie Night
It’s simple to be able to watch a movie together, even from different households without having to pause & hit play at the same time. You can now download Netflix Party, which is a chrome extension. It synchronises video playback & adds group chat to your fav Netflix shows.
Cook The Same Meal from Different Kitchens
Again, video calling is your best friend here. You can both arrange to cook the same meal from your separate homes via video chat. Not only can you have fun cooking together but you can also sit down to eat together via your phone or tablet too.
Physical Dates To Try
Perhaps you’ve been dating for a while & really want to meet up now that the lockdown has been relaxed. Or you may feel comfortable meeting up with your date in person by sticking to the social distancing guidelines. Either way, here’s some social distancing date ideas to try
Picnic In The Park
Ok, it might not be the same with you having to sit apart, there’ll be no cuddling on that picnic blanket. But you can still have a fun date, taking a stroll & getting to know each other before sitting down to eat.
Have A Garden Date
If you don’t fancy a public picnic then thankfully we can now meet up in each other’s gardens now. You have a little privacy to hold those conversations but still be able to nip into the house to bring out extra food & drinks without having to carry everything out to the park with you.
Historical City Tour
Obviously this is better for those that are nearer to the cities, however you can still travel alone & meet up for that city tour date. Perfect if you’re a member of an Aberdeen dating site as you have somewhere on your doorstep to visit.
It can be so romantic to spend the day at the beach & watch the sunset together, even if you can’t snuggle under the same blanket together. Just chilling out listening to the waves & getting to know each other better
A little trickier to keep your distance but there’s no reason why you can’t head out into the countryside for a romantic walk, maybe even take a picnic too. This would be a perfect idea if you have a dog as you can bond over your love of your pets.
You can still maintain your dating life, you just have to be a lot more careful not only to keep yourself safe but also to keep others safe too.
