I know this is probably something a lot of women would like as a problem but for me, I’m really fed up of it. What’s my problem? Looking young for my age.

I’m 33 with a teenager & a toddler but am constantly getting told I don’t look old enough to have a teenager. Admittedly I was young when I had him, I was pregnant at 18 and had him at 19. I looked young for my age then but at 33 I thought I might be past the stage of getting ID’d for alcohol but no, I have to take my driving licence with me everywhere. I even got ID’d for the lottery a few weeks ago!

I know I need to update my wardrobe as I live in leggings & tees as I work from home so need something comfortable but I also need some more ‘age-appropriate’ clothes for when I do actually leave the house.

So my question now is am I too old for long hair? I do love having long hair, it’s even longer now than in the pic above, well past the boobies, but it probably adds to the ‘young look’ as I constantly tie it back into a ponytail or up in a messy bun. So I’m considering going for the chop. It won’t be drastically short but I’m thinking at least 4-5 inches off the length so it’s just a bit below my shoulders. Something like this.

I don’t want to look ‘mumsy’ but I do want to be taken seriously as a mum to a teenager, especially when attending school meetings etc. I just want to look in my 30s not in my 20s anymore.

So what do you think, do I go for the chop?

Ooh I commented on your Instagram to keep… but now reading the post I do like the pictures you have added. I would love to have hair with as much volume as that. I chopped mine because its too thin, but I wish I had kept a bit more length.

I don’t think you’re ever too old for long hair – but if you want to change your look, shorter might help. I do like the pictures.
