It’s that time of year where it’s getting colder and darker, and I just want to snuggle up on the sofa with a blanket. Especially as we’ve just had major building work done on our house to convert it from a two bedroom to a three bedroom house, including moving the bathroom. So I’m totally looking for cosy, boho living room inspiration.
Our new bathroom looks amazing, you can head over & see the all the photos. The three bedrooms are close to being finished. I love how the whole of upstairs is brand new, a whole new look, nice plastered walls, new furniture. We spent a fortune in IKEA but soo worth it to finally have exactly what we’ve always wanted. But now downstairs looks shabby in comparison…
I love monochrome but don’t want a clinical, clean lines kind of look and am staying away from the grey everything trend. I adore natural textures mixed in with the black & white. So I’ve trawled Pinterest obvs to get some boho living room inspiration.
I’m more boho with a bit of a vintage vibe

FLOORING & RUGS
Most of the inspiration I’ve found for the boho look features stained bare floorboards or laminate flooring however in our Victorian terraces house it’s far too cold for that. The person who lived here before us completed a damp proof course which included concrete floors so there’s no option for floorboards here. We did have laminate when our boys were little for ease of cleaning but it really didn’t work for us. You could walk around in bare feet, just so so cold even with underlay. We lost so much heat through the floor.
As soon as we changed to carpets it made a huge difference. It just kept the heat in & made it much more cosy, especially once we added a rug too. When we do redecorate into more of a boho vibe I’ll be keeping the new carpet but changing up the rugs to something like the ones featured above.
SOFT FURNISHINGS & ACCESSORIES
To recreate this look you’ll need lot’s of natural textures, such as wood, wicker, ratten, leather or sheepskin. Lot’s of soft cushions, blankets, throws or rugs are key, especially in the neutral colours of beiges, browns, blacks & whites.
I’ll be featuring Aztec style prints, baskets, plenty of wall art and lot’s of plants. I absolutely adore the wall hangings, I think I’ll be getting some for my bedroom too.
We currently have black leather sofas which I’m unsure if we’ll change as we haven’t had them long. Ideally I would love a fabric corner suite as I love the idea of us all snuggled up on the sofa together with our feet up but I don’t think that will happen for a while. We do have a wingback fabric chair & footstool that does need updating though!
In terms of other furniture, we do have some cube shelving as featured in a few of the photos above although ours is a double unit instead of the single. This fits perfectly into one of our alcoves, we already have rattan baskets as inserts in both white & neutral which loos stunning & keep everything hidden. In our case, they are filled with extra toys that don’t fit in Archie’s bedroom.
I would love a new wooden coffee table and side table, they look stunning with plants and funky photo frames, candles or other matching accessories
I can’t wait until we decorate! Do you love this style? If not, let me know your favourite style in the comments below.
