Well it’s been a busy few weeks with the kids being off school, I’m now back working after my spinal op (boo for no sick pay when you’re self employed) and lot’s of amazing opportunities for the blog. It really has been a great few weeks.
Out & About
We’ve had lot’s of fun this week, especially yesterday when we headed to Blackpool for a blogging review, lot’s more on that to come, but we actually had some sunshine too which just made the day even better.
Fun At Home
As part of Archie’s ongoing speech therapy we’ve started using a system called PECS, which is a picture exchange method of communication which has been amazing for children with Autism. It took a few weeks of screaming, lashing out & major meltdowns but we’re finally making a breakthrough & he’s loving being able to ask for things such as playing with bubbles or balloons using his pictures. I’m going to write a much more in depth post on our experience of PECS as it really is life changing for non verbal kids.
Time For Me
As I said, I’ve been a very lucky blogger. I’m working with a local beauty salon so have been pampered with my HD Brows, plus I spent the afternoon at a Baking Masterclass at the Wilmslow Kitchen. I loved it, it was so much fun.
My Happiest Moment
My happiest moment this week was seeing Archie make his breakthrough with PECS. We’ve not had much progress in his 11 months of speech therapy and it seemed like he wasn’t going to accept the change to PECS, in fact I’ve never seen him so upset, frustrated and angry but he made the breakthrough. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for his communication now, after three long years of being non verbal he now has tools to help him communicate
Next Week I Would Like To
Keep having fun with my boys, I don’t want the summer holidays to end!
