I love MAC Cosmetics, I’ve got to admit. It’s a little pricier than my normal drugstore/high street makeup but it’s fab as a treat. The lipsticks are my absolute favourite & my usual go to when buying MAC but when I saw this MAC Look In A Box in Soft Sophistication I just had to have it. Especially as it includes the iconic & my personal favourite MAC lipstick, Velvet Teddy.

I actually bought this set with a gift voucher for Christmas but I left it in the box ready to take photos. I can’t believe I’ve kept it in perfect condition for so long instead of diving straight in & trying it out. But that lipstick had to be just right for the photos. The blogger struggle lol.

So onto my MAC Look In A Box Review | Soft Sophistication

WHAT’S INCLUDED INCLUDED IN THE MAC LOOK IN A BOX?

A lip and eye kit featuring soft and elegant grey and pink shades. You get six items in the box:

So whilst £49.50 sounds expensive straight up, you actually get £100 worth of MAC products. So you’re actually getting it all half price essentially.

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE PRODUCTS?

Ignore the greys please, lol. Like I said, I’m a huge fan of MAC products anyway so knew what to expect from the Look In A Box. The eyeshadows are really pigmented & blendable. They are super easy to use even for newbies.

The brown looks amazing in the socket. Especially for me as I have quite hooded eyes with excess skin, especially now I’m a knackered mum in her late 30s. It really helps to create the look of a deeper socket, hiding the excess skin slightly. And the pale pink is a gorgeous brow highlight colour. Plus a little in the corner if the eye really makes it pop. I’ve depotted them & added them to my MAC palette ready to take my collection with me whenever I need it.

Velvet Teddy is my favourite ever lipstick shade. I’m a total matte lippy fan, most of my lipstick collection are matte lipsticks. Some can be really drying on the lips but I love that Velvet Teddy is still moisturising. You can still rub your lips together without the lipstick starting to flake or fade.

I’m not usually a big fan of blush, I much prefer bronzer but I adore this shade. It’s so beautiful on the apple of the cheeks & blended just above the cheekbone to give a beautiful flush of colour. It’s pale enough to look really natural & just finishes off the look.

I only ever wear black eyeliner. I’ve tried brown & grey but channelling a bit of Amy Winehouse, I ALWAYS come back to black. My usual go to eyeliner look is a liquid flick. But I do love a smudged flicked look too. This is the first time I’ve tried a MAC kohl liner & I’ll definitely buy it again once I’ve run out.

The liner is really smooth & doesn’t drag on the lid at all. I have to be careful as I mention before, I do have excess skin & some liners can really highlight that but this one smudged & blended perfectly. I didn’t even apply any on my bottom lash line, just blended the flick down. It was super comfortable to wear on the water line too, no watery eyes whatsoever.

Again this was the first time trying out a MAC mascara & I wasn’t too impressed to begin with. It was a little too wet but I did love the big brush so persevered with it. After a couple of uses it was much less watery & turned into a really good mascara.

I love the way it separates & elongates my lashes. You can apply a couple of layers without it going gloopy or flaky as some mascaras so. My eyelashes didn’t stick together after a couple of layer, it continued to separate them layer after to layer. I’m really tempted to try out other mascaras now.

SO WOULD YOU TRY OUT THE OTHER MAC LOOK IN A BOX RANGE?

Yes, I really would. This wasn’t a PR Sample, it was paid for myself & I‘d happily pay it again to try out the other ones in the range. There a total of four Looks In A Box in this range.
