It’s not easy being a mum, there’s so many pressures on us and so many pressures we put on ourselves. We have to juggle so many things, sometimes alongside working too.
Trying to work around the kids, the school run, school holidays, it can be an absolute nightmare. Then sometimes you can be working just to pay the childcare without much left over at the end of the month. It just doesnt make sense.
When I found out I was pregnant with Archie, redundancies were announced at work. For me, it was a godsend. It gave me the kick I needed to start my own business, Handmade Queen of Cakes. Whilst everyone else was worried about their job security I decided to take the bull by the horns and create my own security.
So many people thought I was crazy to leave a salaried role but once we’d worked out the costs of working, the travel expenses, the parking costs, the childcare for two, especially in the school holidays as it would be 12 hour days, it just didn’t make sense to work. I was left with practically nothing, and I couldn’t bear the idea of my two boys being with a childminder for 12 hours a day in the holidays. I don’t want to put the guilt on any mums that do this, we all have to do what we have to do and I respect any mums for that, but I wanted to be the one with the in the holidays.
It can be so hard to start a business and there can be a huge investment, which puts a lot of people off. Where do you start? What do you do? What type of business should you run?
That’s where Bio Sculpture can come in.
As a busy mum running a business from home, doing all the admin & marketing for my husband’s business and being home for to look after the kids and run the house, I end up with no time for myself so I was totally ready for a day at the gorgeous Mondrian Hotel in London and to be treated to afternoon tea, a massage and a Bio Sculpture manicure, and whilst they were absolutely amazing & a real treat it was great to learn about what they do and how you can create your own work from home business.
Bio Sculpture Gel is the original soak-off colour gel nail system, I had no idea they had been in the business for over 25 years, they have been leading nail care since 1988, it was the first gel nail system that lasts up to 3 weeks & soaks off easily without damaging the natural nail.
It was great to be able to chat the to nail technicians about what they do & their work life balance, talking about how they run their businesses around their family & other commitments. Some worked in salons, renting a space to set up their little empire, others were mobile, going out to see clients in their own home and others had set up a business at home creating a small nail salon from a spare room. They really were able to create a business that worked for them.
I’ve even been offered the opportunity to train as a Bio Sculpture Nail Technician myself, which I’m super excited about. I feel it’s important to learn to new skills and to get further qualifications behind you. It can open so many doors for you & help you progress in your career.
I’ve had my Bio Sculpture over two weeks now & my nails still look amazing, super shiny & no chips at all. This just proves to me that the products are high quality, so if I was to become a Bio Sculpture Nail Technician I know my customers would be very happy with the results. Whereas when I’ve had other gel manicures they’ve barely lasted a week!
There are over 150 colours of polish available, with extra colours added seasonally so there’s always a colour for everyone, especially if they are as fussy as me! I love the dark blue & gold glitter my nail technician recommended.
She was really gentle with my nails as I’d just had my acrylic nail extensions removed so my nails were a mess, peeling, torn and so delicate. They’ve been great since I’ve had Bio Sculpture gel applied so I’ll be looking for a local nail technician that uses Bio Sculpture to keep up with the nail growth and hopefully grow my natural nail growth underneath.
I’m so impressed with my experience with Bio Sculpture and can’t wait to start my training. I probably won’t be opening my own salon, I’ll be more of a family & friends manicurist but you never know where the future goes.
My sister now runs my cake business due to my spinal issues & ongoing surgery as I couldn’t keep up with the orders, especially as they have such a tight deadline. You cannot be late with a cake or rearrange your clients when you’re ill but being a Bio Sculpture Nail Technician will give me options for the future. I can take on as many or as little clients as I want. This is something that I can fit around my health issues & my family so I’m so excited to start my training.
