We have had so many appointments at hospital & clinics for Archie & his health issues around his suspected Autism that he gets really distressed at any appointment or even when we need to check his temperature at home. He recently had a serious case of croup that resulted in a trip to A&E as the paramedics couldn’t assess him due to his distress however it was clear to see he had a temperature, we just couldn’t get a reading as he screamed whenever we attempted to get near him.

The Braun Thermoscan 7 thermometer is an in ear thermometer so it’s much easier than our old ‘under the armpit’ one, for start we don’t have to pin him down to keep it in place! Plus it’s the same style that the doctors use so hopefully he will get used to it, or may recognise what I’m trying to do. It’s so hard when your child has communication issues & is non-verbal as you can’t just explain what you are doing or why.

It also features an age-adjustable guidance, I didn’t even realise what is a normal temperature for an adult is actually high for a baby, I have a 13 year old & a 2 year old so this is really good to know that I can change the setting for the whole family. The screen even glows up on a traffic light system so you can be perfectly clear whether your child has a temperature. I’m a mum of two and I’m still not confident about it so this is a great system. It’s so easy to use that I didn’t even open the instructions, the buttons on the front of the thermometer make it so clear. At £44.99 the Thermoscan is more expensive than my previous thermometer but it’s so much better so I feel the price is very reasonable considering the added benefits & peace of mind you get with it, plus it’s currently on offer in Boots for £34.99. This will be taking pride of place in the first aid kit and the old thermometer will be cast away into the junk drawer!

It really is, especially as it’s so simple to use. You don’t have to worry about whether you’ve worked it out right or got the right reading x

I love how the age range setting and traffic light bit make it easy to assess the temperature. Thanks for linking up with #TriedTested

We have the too and it’s an absolute life saver. There’s been a few times this winter where Lamb has had a high temp and there’s no way i would have been able to read it under his arm pit! Alex x #toddlerapprovedtuesday

I’m hoping I won’t have to use it often but at least I know I have something reliable that I trust!
