Working from home can be a blessing and a curse at the same time. On one hand, you get to roll out of bed a little later and enjoy your breakfast in your pyjamas as your work; but on the other hand you also get distracted by jobs which need doing around the house. It is helpful for anyone who is working from home to have an office space which is away from the rest of the house and dedicated to your work. Today we are going to take a look at some of the ways you can set up an office at home for maximum productivity.

Add lots of light

The most important thing you can do when making an office at home for your mind and your body is to add lots of natural light. Try and choose a south facing part of the house so that you can enjoy sunlight all day long. Sunlight can help you to see better, it can keep you awake and it will generally put you in much better mood too. It’s a small change you can make but a super effective one.

Keep it clear

The last thing you want in your home office is a ton of other furniture and items from around the house. If you have a spare room which you want to use as an office it can be a good idea to have a clear out or put things in storage with a colony such as Grange Removals first. Once you have a fairly open space to work with your task will be so much easier and you won’t feel cramped up when you are working in the room.

Add some motivation

When you are working at home on your own it can be amazing to have some peace and quiet and be able to work at your own pace. However on the flip side it can be a nightmare to try and stay motivated when you are alone and no one is watching over your shoulder. This is why it can be a good idea to bring some motivational art or quotes into the office which will keep you on track. It’s a small thing to do but it can have an impact on your state of mind and get you through some tough days.

Organise your files

When you work on your own it should be a little easier to keep on top of your paperwork, and in your home office it is always a good idea to have a shelf or two to place folders and files for different projects. You could for example have all of your budgeting information in one, your invoices in another, and marketing stats in another… keeping everything organised will help you want you are trying to work efficiently and you’ll be able to be much more productive.

Make it comfortable

Home comforts are par for the course when you work at home, and you can make the most of this by having your heating on in the winter, a blanket to wrap around you when you need it and scented candles for a touch of comfort. Bring your home into the office in whatever way you like because after all, it is your home and your office!
