I’ve been really struggling to think of breakfast that are Slimming World friendly and don’t revolve around eggs!
Having cereal or toast can end up using both of your healthy extras first thing leaving nothing for later in the day. If you’re new to SW and want to know more about healthy extras etc then you need to check out my Slimming World for beginners post.
I did try overnight oats a while back but just wasn’t that keen on the taste when using natural yogurt but this time around I’ve been using flavoured fat free yogurts to make Slimming World Overnight Oats for a syn free breakfast and it makes such a difference.
This recipe is super simple, and really quick to make, although you do need to prep it the night before for the the best results.
- 175ml fat free yogurt, eg one pot of Mullerlight
- 40g porridge oats
- any sliced or diced fruit, frozen fruit is perfect as once it begins to defrost there’s lot’s of juices
- simply mix the yogurt & the oats together in a bowl and wrap with clingfilm and leave overnight
This breakfast is syn free is you use the porridge oats as a healthy extra b, if not then you need to add 7 syns instead. This works well for me as I like porridge but like to keep my healthy extra a for my cups of tea.
It’s also a quick on the go breakfast too. Just mix the yogurt & oats in a jar or tupperware tub and leave in the fridge overnight. You can pop some chopped fruit on in the morning and take it to work with you. Or if you’re not as fussy with textures as me then you could mix the chopped fruit in the night before but I find the fruit can go a little soggy.
You can change up the flavours each day by using a different flavour fat free yogurt, but make sure to check the syns of any brands you buy as they may not all be syn free. I’m loving making mine the ALDI banana & custard yogurt but this one is 0.5 syns so I have to make sure I count them in my daily syns!
